Age Spots also Called  Liver Spots

Age or as they are often called, Liver spots appear on hands and face mainly and can be unsightly.

They are often associated with general ageing and are frequently caused by excessive sun at peak times with insufficient protection.

These changes can be signs of melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer.These dark spots are caused by overactive pigment cells. Ultraviolet (UV) light speeds up the production of melanin, a natural pigment that gives skin its color.

On skin that has had years of sun exposure, age spots appear when melanin becomes clumped or is produced in high concentrations.

They are purely cosmetic—you don’t have to treat them. In fact, treatments are not a sure fire way to eliminate their appearance.

However, there are several topical treatments and cosmetic procedures that can help lessen their appearance. And be sure to always use adequate sun protection to help prevent them from forming.

  • Have light skin
